During the March Conference Call it was acknowledged that passing responsibility for managing Cimmerian activity to newer members is hindered by the legacy communication tools we use.
Probably the Cimmerians were the first airsoft group (and likely only) to use such a sophisticated approach to SOP, online collaboration tools, event registration, etc. Much of what I learned about the Cimmerians came from the website and browsing through random posts in the different Yahoo groups. I especially enjoy surfing the old Flickr photos.
It would appear that there is a recent turning point in the availability of member activity, meaning some of the new recruits will have to start stepping up.
To better enable this, we are testing out a new tool for increasing access and usability to all current and some past information. Mostly, all the work will get done via this site.
Of course, the migration will not be immediate. There is a lot of information tucked away into the nooks and crannies of the Yahoo groups, and probably a lot more in senior member's heads and email inboxes.
In fact, part of the prompt to switch to this new tool are some communication issues we experienced in the last year - difficulty in getting registered for an OP, confusion about how to discuss Cimmerian Rules and propose changes, 'offline' discussions resulting in PLIGS and Cimmerians left in the dark about last minute changes to an OP.
The goal is to increase knowledge sharing across the organization. If that happens, we have succeeded.
