Thanks Jason,
I know I'm way behind, so thanks for all the help I can get.
My thoughts were to use the same AO (Lancaster) as for last summer's VN OP.
There was a large dirt wall, a road leading somewhat near it, ridges.
The lower areas were pretty dense trees.
I'm really looking for hills, rocks, and an ravine or something to 'separate'
the US forces. Ultimately, a higher ground as a Taliban stronghold and an
ultimate goal.
I have phone numbers for several spots in the area to call about road and snow
conditions.
My plan thus far was to go up early on Friday, and do a recon on foot to confirm
what areas we could camp, etc., then send an update to people who registered,
etc.
Resources -
Would love to have really loud noise-making stuff, since this OP is based on CCT
calling in a boat-load of ordinance to enable safe retreat of 100+ men. Smoke,
mortar, propane m-60, all of it.
Maps with numbered grids - numbers across both bottom and top. One axis can
start with 01, 02, etc. but the other should be 54, 55, 56. This is to enable
simulated UTM. If we print several maps, members of different teams can confirm
enemy positions and pass it on to the CCT who can call in the fire missions.
Snow-worthy vehicle, to act as helo for extracting wounded, dropping off people,
etc. I'm sure with Fisher out of the country, we are SOL on that...
Safety briefing box, of course. Possibly, ABT but I'd hope to keep US in ACU or
desert colors and Taliban in darker, woodland colors.
I'll have scenario-specific details together in a few hours, and I'll post
those.
